Why have a Pupil Council?
Children have rights!
The United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the child states in article 12 "Children have the right to express the views they have and those views should be listened to in anything that affects them".
Pupil Council empowers pupils.
Pupil Council is a way of giving pupils a say in the way the school runs.
Pupil Council gives pupils a voice.
Pupil Council gives pupils a chance to make changes to improve the school.
Pupil Council gives pupils a forum for discussion.
We have two representatives per class on our Pupil Council. They hold weekly meetings on a Friday with their class to share and discuss ideas. On a fortnightly basis, the representatives from each class meet with Miss Wood during Monday assembly time and share their classes discussions and any issues that are raised.
