School Closure

Morton Trentside Primary School

Policy for Bad Weather Arrangements

During very severe weather, especially very heavy snowfalls or the failure of the heating system, there may be times when the school is closed or may have to close early. These occasions are very rare but we need to have arrangements in place.

School is open unless contact is made stating the school is closed this will be in the following ways:

  • Text message via nominated mobile number from each family
  • Announcement on Lincs FM Radio on 102.2 FM. The radio station will not however announce when school re-opens.
  • Local Authority Website
  • School website

Parents should make arrangements with other parents who might take charge of their children in an emergency or in case of bad weather. They should make sure that the school and the child know what these arrangements are.

We have a duty of care to ensure all children are safe until collected.

Children travelling by Taxi:

It is important that parents and children are not put at risk during severe weather when travelling conditions are difficult. If taxis arrive early to transport children back to the villages, messages will be sent to each parent or carer by the school. Children will not be put in the taxi unless staff have confirmation that a parent or guardian is at home.

Morton Vikings Breakfast Club

If the school is closed, Morton Vikings will also be closed.
