Year 1 Meet the Teacher Powerpoint

Dear Parents/Carers,

In Year One, all children sit a phonics-screening test. This will be in the first week of June next year. This is a national mandatory test that all Year One children take. We teach our children phonics through the Read Write Inc programme, of which the children have a daily session.

We are going to hold a phonics workshop on Wednesday 29th September at 9:10 until 10am. This will be a practical session in the year one classroom where you can come along and see the children have a speeds sound lesson and we can talk you through how to help your children use their phonics when reading and writing. We can also show you some examples of what the phonics-screening test will look like.

If you would like to attend, please drop your children off as normal on that day and then go round to the front of the school and the office staff will let you down to the classroom at 9:10am.

Kind regards,

Mrs Bell and Ms Gibbons

Active award - as a school we are trying to encourage everyone to be as active as possible - including with the way they travel to school. Each child will be tracked for the active award and will win one each month if they manage to come to school by either walking, scooting or biking.
