Attendance
We appreciate how important family time, holidays and days out are and what a learning experience these provide for children however, we cannot approve these and the law has changed. The Education (Pupil Registration) Regulations 2006 have been amended and came into force from 1st September 2013. The amendments remove references to ‘holiday’ from school and extended leave of absence as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days.
Before you book your holiday please consider the impact this time away from school has on your child’s learning. One week each year of their school lives is one whole term of learning lost!
Should you still however need to apply for time absent from school?
You must apply in writing to the Headteacher, preferably four weeks in advance or as soon as possible explaining:
This request will be then be discussed by the attendance panel and a summary response will be sent out to you.
If the absence is deemed as unauthorised and still taken the school has to take the following action by law:
4.5 days unauthorised leave in a six week continuous period – a fixed penalty notice will be requested to be sent to parents by Lincolnshire County Council.
