Maths Intent:
Mathematics is an important foundation for helping us understand the world. We want all pupils to experience the enjoyment and power of mathematics and to develop a sense of curiosity about the subject. We want our children to know the purpose behind their learning and see the connections in their everyday life. This is achieved through exploration, clarification, practice and application over time. We believe all children can achieve in mathematics and foster a ‘We can all do maths!’ attitude.

Power Maths:
At Morton Trentside Primary, we have recently introduced Power Maths as a basis for our Maths lessons. This is an exciting class mastery approach, which has been recommended by the DfE, that works for every child. It is based upon the concrete, pictorial and abstract approach.
